Traffic Cameras (Global Intelligence desk)
Traffic Cameras is a data page on the Global Intelligence desk of Glassbox Auditing. Public road cameras from transport agencies around the world, on a map and in a grid, with live streams, recent clips and refreshing snapshots labelled apart. They show roads as they are when a storm, fire or crash closes a route, before official traffic or damage reports arrive.
What does this page lead to?
- Wildfires & Hurricanes (Global Intelligence): Wildfires & Hurricanes draws these cameras inside or near each storm or fire, so closed and damaged roads can be seen beside the cargo airports, ports and company sites in the same area. (either way, depending on the cause; same day; sector scale)
- Buses (Travel): Closed or jammed roads seen on the cameras are the ones city and intercity buses run on, so they show up as the detours and delays on the Buses page. (moves the same way; same day; sector scale)
- Cloud & Hubs (Companies): Cameras near a company's warehouses, distribution centers and factories show whether the roads serving them are open after a storm or fire. (either way, depending on the cause; same day; company scale) Source: Company records: S&P 500 sectors, SEC annual reports (sites, segments, products), OpenStreetMap buildings, Epoch AI models.
- Insurance Coverage (Domestic Intelligence): Flooded roads on the cameras mark the areas where flood-insurance claims tend to follow; NFIP claims are filed in the weeks after the water recedes. (moves the same way; weeks; sector scale) Source: FEMA OpenFEMA, NFIP Redacted Claims v3 (flood insurance claims since 1978).
- Business Activity (Macro): Region-wide road closures of the kind the cameras show after a major storm keep shoppers and workers home for days, which can show in that month's retail sales. (moves the other way; the month of the event; economy scale) Source: U.S. Census Bureau Economic Indicators (retail, durable goods, construction, housing, business formation, inventories, trade).
