Sanctions & Watchlists
Sanctions & Watchlists is a data page on the Global Intelligence desk of Glassbox Auditing. Eleven official lists, each read from its publisher's own file: U.S., UK, UN, EU, Canadian and Australian sanctions, OFAC's crypto addresses, FBI Wanted posters, World Bank debarments and U.S. officeholders, with what changed between reads and one search across all of them. A sanctions designation cuts the listed party off from dollar payments and from Western banks, insurers and shippers, so new designations reach trade, shipping and prices.

What does this page lead to?
- Oil & Tankers (Global Intelligence): Designating tankers and their owners pushes sanctioned oil onto older ships, longer routes and ship-to-ship transfers, which tends to show up as more AIS gaps and idle laden tankers. (moves the same way; weeks; global scale) Source: US Treasury OFAC, Specially Designated Nationals list.
- Oil Stress (Macro): Sanctions on a large exporter's oil, such as Russia's, Iran's or Venezuela's, put barrels out of Western buyers' reach or raise the cost of moving them, which the oil stress reading counts. (moves the same way; weeks to months; global scale) Source: EIA, Short-Term Energy Outlook (OPEC spare capacity, world supply and demand).
- AI Supply Chain (AI): Commerce's Entity List, part of the Consolidated Screening List, bars U.S. exports to listed firms without a license, which has cut chip and chip-equipment makers' sales to Chinese customers. (moves the other way; quarters; sector scale) Source: US Consolidated Screening List (Commerce, State, Treasury).
- Natural Gas (Macro): Sanctions and Russia's cuts to pipeline gas in 2022 sent European gas prices far above Henry Hub and drew record U.S. LNG exports to Europe. (moves the same way; months; global scale) Source: FRED: Henry Hub spot (DHHNGSP, from EIA); IMF import prices for Europe (PNGASEUUSDM) and Japan LNG (PNGASJPUSDM).
- Company (Companies): The company page screens each company's name against these lists; a match is a name to check against the list's own record, not a finding that the two parties are the same. (either way, depending on the cause; same day; company scale) Source: US Consolidated Screening List (Commerce, State, Treasury).
- Profiles (People & Money): Profiles screen each person's name against these lists the same way; a designation cuts the person off from U.S. banks and dollar payments, while a shared name alone proves nothing. (either way, depending on the cause; same day; company scale) Source: US Treasury OFAC, Specially Designated Nationals list.

- Labs & Countries (AI): The U.S.-China model gap is the case made for chip export controls; Commerce's Entity List, part of the Consolidated Screening List, names Chinese chip and AI firms U.S. suppliers need a license to ship to. (either way, depending on the cause; months; global scale) Source: US Consolidated Screening List (Commerce, State, Treasury).
- World Map (Global Intelligence): Governments answer invasions and attacks with new sanctions designations, so the lists tend to grow after a conflict starts, as they did after Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. (moves the same way; weeks; global scale) Source: US Treasury OFAC, Specially Designated Nationals list.
- Alliances & Blocs (World Powers): Sanctions are coordinated within blocs (the G7 and EU acted together on Russia after 2022), so members' lists tend to grow together. (moves the same way; months; global scale) Source: EU Financial Sanctions Files (consolidated list).
- United Nations (World Powers): Security Council sanctions resolutions add names to the UN Consolidated List, which every member state must enforce; a veto by a permanent member blocks them. (moves the same way; weeks; global scale) Source: UN Security Council Consolidated Sanctions List.
